Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I’ve seen how easily students, especially those with disabilities or difficult circumstances can be overlooked. I wanted to be the person who sees them, believes in them, and refuses to let them fall through the cracks. Teaching allows me to turn barriers into opportunities and help students discover purpose, confidence, and a future they may not have believed was possible.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience was watching a student once labeled “unreachable” succeed by graduating early and finding real job placement. I watched their confidence grow, their mindset shift, and their pride shine the day they earned their first paycheck. In that moment, they didn’t just gain employment, they gained belief in themselves. That transformation is why I teach.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If selected, I would use the funds to relaunch my nonprofit, KY DreamChasers, focused on helping students access job opportunities and postsecondary pathways. The goal is to expand real-world experiences, build business partnerships, and provide resources that ensure every student, regardless of background and has a clear, supported path to success beyond high school.
