Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher first and foremost because of my love for learning. I enjoy the opportunity to interact daily with students and teach them about the amazing environments in our world and the different animals that inhabit them.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Any time I get a chance talk about or educate my students about the assorted classroom pets we have. One moment that stands out was when my axolotls laid eggs. My students were so interested in watching the larva develop and had great time learning about their development.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000 prize, most of that money would be used to build a better infrastructure within my classroom to showcase many of the reptiles and amphibians that I have. In improving the infrastructure I could also add new species and maybe some marine aquaria to further enhance my students’ learning experience.
