Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to change how students view Phys Ed. So many adults have had bad experiences in Phys Ed when they were kids, and I wanted to be the one to make Phys Ed a great place for learning, fitness and fun for everyone and not just for the athletes. I also wanted to help student's realize that they all have a special talent to share with the world, even though they might not know it just yet.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is every day! When I have students and parents coming up to me and telling me how much they love what I do in my classes and that they enjoy and look forward to coming to Phys Ed and Health classes, it makes it impossible to choose any specific experience. All of my experiences and students are special.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use half of the money to purchase new Phys Ed equipment for my school. I teach at a small Catholic School and my budget is $150 for the year. Phys Ed equipment is expensive and I am not able to purchase the equipment that I want to make my program even better (indoor Curling sets, new hockey goals, large smooth running scooters for an entire class, a Cricket set, new basketballs and backboards, and rims, just to name a few). The rest I would like to put in the bank for a rainy day.
