I wanted to be a teacher because I deeply admired my father, who dedicated his life to educating others. Watching his patience, kindness, and passion for helping students succeed inspired me at a young age. He showed me that teaching is more than a profession—it is a way to make a difference. Because of him, I developed a strong desire to guide, support, and inspire young learners in their own journeys.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThe most memorable part of being a teacher is having the opportunity to teach in South Dakota at an Indian school. It is deeply meaningful to work with Native students, honor their culture, and support their growth. Each day brings pride and purpose as I help them learn, celebrate their identity, and build confidence for their future while staying connected to their traditions.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I suddenly had $25,000, I’d say I’m going to responsibly build my dream house… and then immediately get distracted by pizza and root beer floats for my students! Of course, I’d still build the house (eventually), but not before throwing the most legendary classroom party ever. Because honestly, what’s a dream home without happy, sugar-filled students cheering you on along the way?
