I love teaching because curiosity sparks, confidence grows, and every day I get to watch students realize they’re capable.

I became a teacher because I believe every student deserves someone who sees their potential, especially the ones who struggle to see it themselves. I wanted to create a classroom where students feel safe to try, make mistakes, and grow. As a special education teacher, the most rewarding moments are when a student who once said “I can’t do this” realizes they actually can. Helping students build confidence in themselves is what drives me every day.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable moments has been watching a student who struggled academically begin to believe in themselves. Over time their confidence grew, their work improved, and they started participating more in class. One day they told me they wanted to be a teacher when they grow up. Knowing I played even a small part in helping them see their potential is something I will always carry with me.
What would you do with the $25,000?Honestly, I would probably start by fixing some things around my house that need attention. Teaching takes a lot of energy, so having a stable home makes a big difference. I’d also love to bring some Ms. Frizzle energy into my classroom by creating fun incentives and experiences that motivate my special education students. A lot of them struggle with confidence, so celebrating their growth and making learning feel exciting can go a long way.
