Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher after working in the human services field in an urban inner city with adults who struggled with life choices. I realized many of them were set in their ways because of choices that usually began in childhood and continued one choice at a time. I became a teacher in that same inner city because I hoped to intervene at a younger age in a person's life to interrupt their life choices for the positive both academically and behaviorally.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is reaching the students that exhibit several behaviors each year. The student(s) teachers can be tired of. I make it my mission at the beginning of the year to find out how to reach them. It doesn't happen right away, and sometimes it takes almost half the year to get there. It happens, one building block at a time. This school year, a student was asked what made their academic life more successful this year. The student's reply, Mrs. Brockenberry.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would give a portion of money to the school Im working with to help them help students in the way students need it most in the school. I then would like to move forward in creating a llc that focuses on education in some way.
