Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make kids feel seen, supported, and capable—because I know how much it matters when someone truly believes in you. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel safe to try, to fail, and to grow. Watching them build confidence and realize their potential is what drives me, and knowing I can play even a small role in their journey means everything.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was connecting with a student who had been labeled a behavior issue and was struggling academically. By building trust and a genuine relationship, I saw him begin to believe in himself. Over time, his confidence grew, and he became proficient in both math and reading. Watching that transformation reminded me how powerful connection and patience can be.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I’d use the $25,000 to take a much-needed trip with my husband and baby girl—just real, uninterrupted time together while showing her a little more of the world. Then I’d put the rest toward her future, so she has opportunities and security as she grows.
