Learn MoreI come from a family of educators, and I knew I wanted to become a teacher when I was in third grade myself. Now, as a third grade teacher, I love watching my students’ faces light up when they realize they can succeed. Helping children believe in themselves is what drew me to this profession and keeps me passionate every day.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceDuring my first year of teaching, I worked closely with a student who struggled in both reading and math. Through daily encouragement, small-group instruction, and celebrating even the smallest progress, she gained confidence in herself as a learner. By the end of the year, she had grown significantly in reading, and watching her realize she could succeed was the most rewarding moment of my career.
What would you do with the $25,000?I welcomed my first child this past October, and my family is currently living in an apartment. I would use part of this award toward a down payment on a home to provide stability for my family. I would use the remainder to reduce my student loan debt. I am also currently pursuing my master’s degree, and this support would allow me to continue growing professionally while staying focused on my students and family.
