I love being a positive, trusted adult who makes science exciting. I love helping my students believe in themselves.

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of children who need it most. I wanted to be the kind of steady, positive adult that every child deserves—someone who shows up, listens, and believes in them wholeheartedly. For some students, school is the safest and most consistent place in their lives. I chose this profession because I wanted to help create that space and be a role model for kids who may not always have one.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching moments was leading my first 7th grade frog dissections. The room was filled with excitement, curiosity, and a little nervous laughter. Watching their initial hesitation turn into fascination was incredible. They asked thoughtful questions, made real connections, and were completely engaged. Seeing their confidence grow and their love for science deepen in that moment reminded me exactly why I teach.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I received $25,000, I would use it to pay down my student loans. As a teacher, I’ve struggled to keep up with bills, working two jobs—serving on the side and taking on extra duties at school—to make ends meet. Paying off my debt would lift a huge weight off my shoulders, and I would put the remaining amount into savings to create some financial stability and peace of mind.
