Tell us why you became a teacher

My dad was a teacher, he loved it, he was forced to retire because he got Alzheimer’s. He doesn’t remember much now, but he still remembers teaching. He’s always been my inspiration.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In 25 year I have some sad and some happy ones. One of my students died at 14. She asked for me to take her to the hospital and after her surgery I went to visit. She said thanks for everything, it was fun having you as a teacher. On my way back to work, she passed. Her mom came to pick up her diploma at the middle school’s promotion ceremony. We hugged and cried in front of all the classmates. I wish I could’ve done more. It was 24 years ago. My first generation of students. I still remember it

What would you do with the $25,000?

I wish I could say something special, but like many people, I just want to be able to pay debt. The money will release a lot of stress!
