I love teaching because I get to nurture curiosity, build confidence, and watch children discover their brilliance every day.

Tell us why you became a teacher

became a teacher because I wanted to work with kids who struggled like I did. School didn’t always come easily to me, and I remember how much it mattered when a teacher showed patience and believed in me. I want to be that steady, encouraging presence for my students—helping them see that struggle is part of learning and that they are capable, valued, and strong.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was watching a first grader who struggled deeply with reading learn how to read. He came from a low-income home and faced challenges both at home and at school. In the beginning, he doubted himself and often shut down when work felt hard. Through consistent support, small-group instruction, and a lot of encouragement, something began to shift. The day he realized he could read a book on his own was unforgettable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000, I would invest in my classroom and my family. I would purchase high-quality books and hands-on learning materials to support my students, especially in literacy. I’d also fund meaningful experiences like field trips. Personally, I would save and invest a portion for long-term security and use some to create special memories with my family through travel and outdoor adventures.
