I love teaching. I love the dress up days, decorating the classroom, the assemblies and getting to know my classroom family for the year!
Thank you for supporting Emily Scofield in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
I was inspired to teach by my mother. As a child, I was homeschooled and she always found creative ways to teach us. We traveled a lot, so a majority of our learning was hands on and project-based. I wanted to bring that type of learning to others to experience!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceIn the fall of 2018, a fourth grade student in my class suffered significant fire damage from a wild land fire that swept through their property. It inspired me to lead a fundraiser to help pay for some of his loss. My class recreated dozens of signs that were inspired by a sign the boy made out of barn wood and paint that read, “Pray for Rain”. Local businesses sold the signs and 100% of the proceeds went to the fire victims.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I received $25,000, the first thing I would do is pay off the rest of my student loans and medical bills. Then I would purchase an amazing set up for our class pet - a little green anole named “Jefffffffff” (yes, with 9 f’s).
