Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a difference in the lives of children. I’ve never been a teacher to teach solely for academic purposes, but also to instill the wisdom and knowledge of the world so that the next generation is well-prepared for real-life scenarios.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable teaching experience I had was last year when I was teaching my 2nd graders about the power of empathy. I had them share their most painful experiences in life with each other. Amidst all of the tears, in that classroom, we built the most beautiful relationship with one another where every child felt that they could love, trust, and care for one another.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would attempt to create a new curriculum that supported students in Title 1 schools. I work in one, so I know the challenges and hardships that my students face every day. I would request funding from an administrative level and request outreach programs for the students that need the highest level of support. That is my main purpose in life, I believe, and I think it would benefit the students in my school tremendously.
