I always wanted to be a zookeeper, since I was a little girl - that was the career path I wanted to follow! I followed it and turns out, it wasn't what I loved! I loved talking to people about animals, I loved doing animal presentations in front of crowds! I turned that passion into teaching and love sharing my knowledge and watching students grow! I told my recruiter I wanted to teach elementary students and he said that I was going to be a HS science teacher! I've been doing that for 14 years!

This year, I moved into a new school that has not had much success with science educators. Many of the students didn't trust me because I was new to the small school. Through perseverance and flexibility, many of the students now say science is their favorite subject! I had students who rarely show up to class joining my class for dissections! Students who have never been successful before in a science class are lighting up and meeting the challenges I put in front of them!

I'm a single mom and would love to take my boys to Japan to explore the birthplace of Pokemon, Nintendo, and Anime! I would also keep my classroom stocked with snacks and fund field trips to science museums and place based learning opportunities!
