I love teaching because I get to watch students grow every day. I love helping them build confidence and discover what they’re capable of!

The winning teacher's inspiring story will appear in Reader's Digest, celebrating their remarkable influence on education.
Learn MoreI wanted to work with kids because I love kids and I am really good with them. I started with Special Ed as a paraprofessional and knew I could do more for more kids as a teacher. So, I went back to school to earn my degree in Elementary Ed.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching moments come from working with students who didn’t always believe in themselves. As a Special Education paraprofessional, I had the privilege of helping students through challenges and celebrating their victories, no matter how small. Seeing a student finally understand something they once struggled with is the moment every teacher lives for.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won, I would pour back into my future classroom. I want to invest into my students. I would build a classroom where all students feel welcome. I want to build a reading area and fill it with books that reflect different backgrounds and interests. I also want to invest in flexible seating for my students because having options for seating helps support all types of learning. I would also set some aside to help my students who might need help getting supplies they need or don’t have.
