Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education has the power to transform lives and open doors that once seemed locked. I am passionate about helping individuals recognize their strengths, build confidence, and discover their potential. No matter the obstacles in their way—whether personal, academic, or social—I want my students to know they are capable of learning, growing, and achieving meaningful success.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was when a blind, non-verbal, autistic student independently used his AAC device to ask to play for the very first time. Until then, communication had required a lot of prompting and support. Watching him initiate that request on his own was powerful and emotional. It was more than a simple choice to play—it was self-advocacy, confidence, and connection, all expressed in a way that showed his true voice had been there all along.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would begin opening a nonprofit school dedicated to true inclusion and meaningful learning for all students. The funds would help secure a safe space, adaptive materials, and assistive technology to ensure every learner is supported. My goal would be to create a community where differences are celebrated, individualized instruction is prioritized, and every child is given the opportunity, resources, and belief they need to thrive.
