Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to support students who struggle in high school due to difficult home lives, much like my own experience growing up. I wanted to be the adult I needed—someone who listens, encourages, and teaches both academic content and real-life skills. My goal is to help students build confidence, resilience, and practical skills so they feel prepared for life beyond school and know they have someone who believes in them.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences is seeing students grow beyond the classroom—especially during senior field trips where students earned real job offers and confidence in their futures. Being nominated in our local newspaper for kindness toward students was meaningful, but the most lasting moments are the daily relationships I build. Watching those connections remain strong and impactful year after year makes teaching truly unforgettable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would first invest in my children’s futures by padding their educational savings, ensuring they have a head start on their dreams. Beyond my home, I’d breathe life into my community by donating to local youth programs that provided me support when I needed it most. Finally, I’d tackle some long-overdue home repairs. For me, this money isn't just a windfall; it's a seed for long-term stability.
