Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love looking at things from different perspectives. Teaching allows me to be creative, disciplined and collaborative every day. My teaching helps me grow as a learner.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have taught Grades 1-5 and can honestly say I loved all grades. My favorite teaching memories are spontaneous moments I share with my students. Those aha moments where the light bulb turns on for a student and his or her eyes open wide is the best feeling! I also love the times we can laugh together and celebrate meeting goals.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the money to buy dream studenr materials for my classroom-furniture, brain breaks, books and learning games. I would also help grow our student leadership school wide program to outfit our classroom pods with furniture for learning spaces where student leaders work as academic and SEL mentors with peers. And to be honest, I'd probably buy some comfy teacher shoes and more spirit wear to surprise my students with on theme days! My prize money could fund college for my o 2 kids.
