I became a teacher because education can change the direction of a life. A teacher once refused to give up on me—even when I was 30 and still finding my path. That belief stayed with me. It showed me the power of encouragement and second chances. I strive every day to be that same voice for my students: someone who believes in them and reminds them they are capable of more than they imagine. Thank you, Mickey Fox.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most meaningful experiences has been helping organize an Agricultural Awareness Day with our high school Ag teacher. For three years, we’ve taken our youngest learners to the ag barn for hands-on activities and farm games. Watching younger students learn with excitement while older students step into leadership roles creates a powerful sense of community. The joy, curiosity, and connections made that day are something I will never forget.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The first thing I would do is buy our Ag department the equipment and supplies they need to expand our Ag Awareness Day so we can accommodate more students from across our district. I would also use some of the money to restore the classic Mustang I inherited from my Papaw. My goal is to bring it back to life and drive it in our school’s Transportation Day parade and sharing stories about the world’s greatest Papaw!
