I started as a medical assistant and never would have dreamed that I would end up a CTE teacher. I saw the job posting and I had all the qualifications for the job so I took a chance, applied, got the job, and it was the best decision I've ever made. I took the chance because having children of my own made me realize how much I love to teach them new things. In the classroom I feel the same way about my students. It brings me joy to see them succeed and become young adults.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceAs a CTE teacher I teach the medical pathway program for high school students. One student unfortunately had to go to the ER for a medical reason. When she was doing better and came to tell me her incident, she was happy that she was able to understand some of the medical terminology that the nurses were saying. She said she felt smart and important and the nurses were impressed on the knowledge she had obtained in my class. That was a very proud moment for the both of us.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would donate money to my school, church, and help my community establish a boys and girls club.
