I became a teacher because I believe connection truly changes lives. As a father of 4 and a multi-sport coach, I’ve seen the transformation that happens when someone genuinely believes in a student / athlete. Students don’t care what you know until they know how much you care. I pour my heart into my classes, sharing real-life lessons, encouragement, and perspective. Seeing them push past doubt & discover confidence fills me with pride. Being a dad is my greatest job, teaching is a close second.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most meaningful moments came when a student asked to interview me for her college essay about the most interesting person she knew. I was deeply honored. After school, she told me she chose me because I’m “always there” (at games, plays, dances) and because she knew I genuinely cared about her future. She said I was real and respected her. Hearing that meant more than she will ever know. Being a steady presence in a student’s life is a privilege I cherish.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If honored with $25,000, I would invest it directly back into my students. I would expand real-world learning experiences, fund industry certifications, bring in guest speakers, and create hands-on opportunities that prepare students for life beyond high school. I would also support student leadership programs and help decrease financial obligations. My goal would be simple: use it to open doors, build confidence, and expand their vision for what’s possible.
