Tell us why you became a teacher

I didn’t originally set out to become a teacher. In fact, it wasn’t part of my plan at all. My career path was heading in a different direction until a professor noticed something in me that I hadn’t fully recognized in myself. They encouraged me to consider teaching, pointing out my ability to connect with others and break down complex ideas into ways that made sense. At the time, I didn’t realize how meaningful that skill could be, but their words stuck with me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Running into former accounting students who stopped me to say thank you. They shared their tire business was on the verge of failing until they came across notes they had taken in my class. By applying those concepts, they were able to reorganize their finances, make informed decisions, and ultimately save their business. Hearing that reminds me on what I do or don’t do daily in the classroom has lasting impact.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Pay off student loans, credit cards, or other debts.
