Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I have always been passionate about helping children learn and grow. I believe that education plays a powerful role in shaping a child’s future, and I wanted to be someone who could guide and support students along that journey. Teaching gives me the opportunity to encourage curiosity, build confidence, and help students discover their strengths. I also value the relationships that are built in the classroom. Being able to connect with students and their families.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was helping a student who was struggling to understand a concept and felt discouraged. By providing extra support and encouragement, I was able to help the student gradually build confidence and improve their understanding. The most rewarding moment was seeing the student successfully complete a task they once found difficult. What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would use it to start a nonprofit afterschool and summer camp program for students in underdeveloped neighborhoods. The program would offer academic support, enrichment activities like arts and STEM, and fun summer experiences to keep students engaged. The funds would cover materials, supplies, transportation, and snacks. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where students can grow academically, build confidence, and explore new opportunities.
