Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and capable. I wanted to be the person who helps students discover their strengths, especially those who learn differently. Teaching allows me to advocate, build confidence, and create a safe space where growth happens. Watching students overcome challenges and believe in themselves is why I chose this path and why I continue to stay.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has been watching my students with unique abilities be fully accepted by their peers. Seeing friendships form, differences embraced, and classmates offer support without hesitation reminds me why inclusion matters. In those moments, barriers disappear, confidence grows, and every child feels like they belong. That sense of acceptance is more powerful than any lesson I could ever teach.

What would you do with the $25,000?

As a special education teacher, I see how overwhelming school can be for students with sensory and emotional needs. If I won $25,000, I would create a sensory room- a safe space with calming lights, movement equipment and regulation tools to help students reset and return ready to learn. This room would reduce crises, support inclusion, and give every child the opportunity to feel safe, supported, and successful.
