Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education changes lives. I wanted to make a difference, inspire confidence, and open doors of opportunity for students. I saw the power of encouragement, structure, and high expectations, and chose to be the person who helps students grow academically and personally every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was being named District Teacher of the Year. The recognition was an honor, but what meant the most was seeing my students celebrate me as if it was truly well deserved. Their excitement, pride, and genuine joy reminded me that the impact I strive to make in their lives is seen and felt. In that moment, I realized the award wasn’t just mine and that it belonged to all of us.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded the $25,000, I would invest it directly into my classroom to provide everything my students need to be successful, especially the resources and materials our school system may not be able to fully fund. I would purchase lots of hands-on learning tools, classroom supplies, and incentive items that promote excellence and motivation. Beyond my classroom, I would support my mom with her bills & put a down payment on my son’s first car.
