Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I struggled in school. I had a very hard time academically, and for the most part was left to my own devices which left me filling horrible about my knowledge and my skills. I went to college and took an early childhood education class and I was hooked. I can honestly say it has taken me the 25 years that I’ve been a teacher to become the teacher that I am today. I strive and work hard to make all children feel wanted and successful. Because I know how it feels!!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience is honestly every single year. Every year is a brand new year with brand new amazing children that I get to have the privilege of spending my day with. I get children that I am the very first teacher, and it is such an honor to help shape them and help them learn their foundational skills. I see so much growth in one year it blows me away how much they can accomplish.

What would you do with the $25,000?

What I would do with $25,000 I don’t know to be honest. I’m a single mother and it would help me tremendously not only for my kids at school but also for my child. I don’t want for much but as a single mom there are some things, my daughter doesn’t get the opportunity to have. Also, I would love to throw a big party for our little school.
