Tell us why you became a teacher

My goal every day is to make high schoolers happy to be there. So many kids just need that one champion in their life & I strive to fight for all of them. I inspire them to be better people first, and then learn my content. I’ve always practiced kindness with my students and model for them how to be gracious and accepting.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

For several years, I was fortunate enough to take groups of students to Washington, D.C. to tour the capital and visit the Holocaust Museum. This experience was life-changing for these kids since most of them would never have been able to travel to our Nation’s Capitol without this opportunity. One year I was awarded a Target grant and all of the students that year were able to attend for free.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would apply most of the funds to my student loan debt and I would also use some of the funds to plan an international trip with my yearbook and newspaper students so they could have a life-changing experience!
