I became a teacher to take things further for my community. I received high praise, love and support from my colleagues and also am motivated to become a school counselor. Having exceptional mentors help lead me to this decision and it is with my purpose to fulfill it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

At our school, we have 3 PE teachers. When I am not the lead teacher, I love scanning the gym and seeing who is in need of some one on one time. It never feels good to be left out. I am all about being inclusive with our students and making sure they know they are amazing just the way they are.

What would you do with the $25,000?

In order to be the best, you surround yourself around the best. I could not be who I am without the help of my colleagues. One of the things I would do is buy lunch for the entire staff and have a chair massage for everyone to have 15 minutes of self care. Then I would reflect on that and take my family to Disney World. A place not only my kids but myself has always wanted to go. And lastly, I would save the rest to build a brighter future for not only me but my family.
