Tell us why you became a teacher

I had always entertained the idea of being a teacher one day. I played school quite often with my sister growing up and I always loved going to school. The positive relationships I had with my teachers helped me to overcome many obstacles in my young life. So, I wanted to be able to give that back and through many challenges in my adult life I finally made that dream come true.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

There are so many, however, what comes to mind the most is the joy in seeing past students come over to give me a hug or tell me how they are doing. I have served some very challenging students who had very difficult lives and it was endearing and humbling for them to come back to say how much they missed being in my class. All they need sometimes is a little love.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Honestly, I would probably pay off some of my school debt. I am currently in a masters program but still need to pay off loans from the last time I was in school getting my teaching license. I would probably also have a class party!!
