Deja Jones

I love teaching (I’m a special ed. teacher) because I get to see progress from start to finish. It may be slow and small but it’s good!!

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I think the world is headed in the wrong direction. We have to protect our future and that starts with making sure our kids are on the right side of history. I became a teacher to leave a lasting appropriate impact.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

When I first graduated I went straight into special education. I met a student that they had written off for the last few years and got him to produce so much work for me and even begin his verbal journey! It was amazing to see how much he grew in one year.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Pay off my student debt and give the rest of the money to my parents who helped build this foundation for me.
