Tell us why you became a teacher

I began my career with a psychology degree working in a children’s home with boys ages 5–18. While helping teachers during the school day, I realized my true calling was in the classroom. Seeing students excited about learning inspired me to go back to school and earn my education degree. Twenty-three years later, I still love teaching. The relationships I build with students and their families mean the most, and I hope they always know I truly want what is best for every child.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have many memorable experiences, but I especially cherish when former students come back to visit and share their life experiences. Knowing they still trust and value our relationship means so much. Moments like these remind me why teaching truly matters.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would absolutely celebrate with my class and teammates. I would purchase any resources we may need and give back to our PTA and school! I will also put some of that away for my retirement.
