Tell us why you became a teacher

Some of the greatest influences in my life have been my teachers. My Uncle and God-Father was a teacher and one of the greatest mentors of my life. Those teachers, along with him, taught me the value and impact of a loving teacher can shape the future of others. I am so grateful for the positive influence they've had on my life, and always wanted to play and similar role in the lives of others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of the most memorable teaching experiences I have had have been watching "at risk" students, whom others had given up on rise, thrive and lead enriching lives. They not only graduated alongside me as their teacher, they went on to have beautiful families and embark on career paths which help others in need. I couldn't be more proud and blessed to be a part of their journeys.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I am blessed enough to win, I would use the money to start a community service program and social emotional learning curriculum I have dreamt of for many years, but have been unable to pursue due to a lack of funding. This program will create a new way of learning, living and leading for business owners, care providers and others who want to make a difference. I want to reinvest this money in our future generations so that we can create the change we so greatly need in the world.
