Learn MoreHonestly, I never planned on becoming a teacher even though both of my parents were. I always wanted to work with animals. My undergrad studies immersed me in science (an. husbandry/pre-vet med). There was a teacher shortage and I was highly qualified. So many teachers (including my parents) helped me survive middle school-literally- and now I had this perfect opportunity to do the same for others, share my passion for science (all disciplines), and be a role model for young women!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a group of extremely motivated students who I could tell from day 1 would be bored with the normal routine of lessons, so my students and I decided to create science videos to teach other kids about the curriculum. They divided into script writers, researchers, actors, camera operators and film editors. Each unit was an episode w/topics on the moon, seasons, solar system, fossils, geology. They called it Ms. Glick the Science Chick period 8 (inspired by Bill Nye the Science Guy!)
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the money to start my own children's science show so I can reach (and teach) a wider audience of kids than just the ones in my classroom.
