Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I had an incredible Kindergarten teacher named Mrs. sanders and she made me want to be a teacher. I love the spark in the eyes of a student learning something new that I was able to teach them. I find it so rewarding when my students say something is “so easy” after taking a test on a lesson I taught them. It is hard to have a bad day when you have 21 little faces smiling and admiring you all day! It’s true when they say being a teacher is so rewarding.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It’s impossible to have one memorable experience because I have so many. I feel that everyday I make memorable experiences, because my students learn something new everyday. I will say that when I walk into the cafeteria everyday and all my past students want to say hello to me and give me a hug creates unforgettable moments for me. It is so impactful to me when my past students recall things we did years ago in 1st grade together…definitely memorable!

What would you do with the $25,000?

That amount of money can change my life and would help me pay off my student loans. I love teaching but I am unfortunately still paying for the road to becoming a teacher. Not having that debt anymore would free up other money for me to further my education and someday be able to teach other upcoming educators everything I have learned working with children for the last 25 years.
