I became a teacher because it was my dream as a little girl. My cousins and I played school in my playhouse, and I was always the teacher. I loved writing on the chalkboard and white board when I was in school myself. But most of all, I love the connections with students and their families. To be able to influence a kid into believing in themselves is an amazing feeling.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI have had many memorable experiences as a teacher, but the best ones have been when kids share their own experience of what I did to impact them. For them to contact me after they’ve left my classroom just to tell me that I was the reason they believed they were smart or I was the one who taught them how to write or I was the teacher who made them feel comfortable, those are motivation and confirmation for me to know God has me right where I am supposed to be.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won the $25,000, I would travel to Hawaii, where I have always wanted to visit.
