Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because as a student that had to overcome some difficulties, I wanted to be able to help students overcome their own challenges. I believe that no matter the disability or challenges they face they too may overcome them. I love each and every student and strive to give hope when there may look like there isn't any.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In forty three years there are many memorable teaching experiences but my most memorable has a very personal impact. My second child was sick and was told by many he would not talk crawl or walk I taught my son and encouraged him to overcome. He now is a store manager and is successful.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use most of the money to complete my doctorate program. So that I can develope and program to help other teachers parents and communities reach the special needs students and encourage them to accomplish anything.
