Learn MoreDeciding to become a teacher or a geologist was a huge challenge for me! I loved science so much that I wanted to the one making discoveries. On the other hand, I also wanted to share my love of science (and rocks) with the world. Ultimately, I wanted to inspire the next generation of scientists like my 7th grade science teacher who inspired me!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceDon't tell my superintendent, but I once taught my students about gravity by dropping spheres of different sizes off the roof of our building! (My custodian is a great accomplice!). The shock and awe when the kids saw the pool ball and bowling ball hit the ground at the same time was unforgettable!
What would you do with the $25,000?Environmental education is important, yet there is no outdoor space on campus. I would love to use the funds to create natural spaces where students can learn about the nature around them while practicing stewardship. My classroom has outdated equipment that needs to be replaced. Traveling to conferences is so expensive. I would love to support my team by funding conference attendance for my department.
