I love teaching because I get to spark curiosity, build confidence, and make every child feel seen, valued, and capable of success.

I became a teacher because at four years old, I walked to my sibling’s school without my mom knowing. While she searched for me, I was in a classroom eager to learn. There, I met Mrs. Bronx, who later became my first teacher. She made me feel safe, capable, and excited about school. Her warmth and belief in me shaped my love of learning, and I became a teacher to give that same first classroom experience to every child.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was watching a shy student who barely spoke at the start of the year confidently read aloud to the class. I remember the pride in their eyes and the applause from classmates. In that moment, I saw the power of patience, encouragement, and belief. It reminded me that teaching isn’t just about lessons — it’s about helping children discover their voice and confidence.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would transform my classroom into an engaging, resource-rich environment. I’d purchase diverse books, hands-on learning materials, updated technology, and flexible seating to meet different learning needs. I would also fund enrichment experiences like field trips and family literacy events. My goal would be to create meaningful, memorable learning opportunities that inspire curiosity and help every student feel supported and valued.
