Tell us why you became a teacher

I watched my mom inspired kids to love math as a teacher. I wanted to have that same opportunity but with art. Seeing the kids faces light up when they try a new technique or are proud of their work means everything and is why I became a teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I had a former student reach out to me years later to tell me about a memory I made with her that impacted her to this day. I had promised this student a ring if she had the best day ever at school, this meant her best work and behavior. She did and earned her ring. She still has the ring to this day.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would put the money aside for different things for my classrooms. I teach in three different elementary schools in my district and buying decorations and items for my classrooms adds up when buying for three rooms. Also, I would use some of the money for self care to ensure I am the best teacher for my students and help out my family members struggling with some major health concerns.
