Danielle Bennett

I love teaching because watching students go from disliking math to loving it never gets old—especially when their confidence grows.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a high school math teacher because I enjoy helping students see that math is something they can understand and succeed in. Many students walk in believing they are “bad at math,” and I love helping change that mindset. Watching their confidence grow as concepts click is incredibly rewarding and reminds me why teaching matters.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was being nominated by my students for Taco Tuesday Teacher of the Month. Their nominations led to me being featured on TV, which was an exciting surprise. What meant the most wasn’t the recognition, but knowing my students took the time to support me and share how much my class meant to them.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 prize to enhance my classroom and support my students—installing more vertical whiteboards, purchasing hands-on math resources, and funding engaging projects. I’d also set aside a portion to provide supplies for students who need them, helping them succeed and feel confident in their learning.
