Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education can transform lives. I want to help children discover their abilities, develop confidence, and grow with curiosity and kindness. As a Spanish immersion teacher, I also love helping students connect with language and culture while building skills that will support them throughout their lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences happened at Wellstone Elementary School while teaching first grade in the Spanish immersion program. One day, after reading a story aloud, one of my students told me that they wanted to write their own story too. That moment inspired our class to begin creating small stories together in Spanish. Watching my students use their imagination, draw their ideas, and write their first sentences in a new language was incredibly meaningful.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would use part of it to continue growing as a person, educator, and writer. I would invest in my professional development, attend educational conferences, and continue my graduate studies in education. I would also dedicate time and resources to developing my own writing projects that celebrate culture, language, and storytelling.
