Tell us why you became a teacher

I struggled in school as an English Language Learner, I really wanted to make a difference in someone's life. I knew that by becoming a teacher I would be able to support kids that came from the same backgrounds as me. The might be able to relate and see that a higher education is possible and that their dreams can be attained.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I got my first tea thing job as an ELL teacher and was able to make many connections with my students. My most memorable teaching experience was the last day that I worked at my first school. I thought it was going to be just another ending to my school year and everyone was going to go home. My colleagues and students all came to my classroom to say good bye, one by one my students came by gave me a hug and said what I meant to them. We all cried, even students I had not met yet.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest in starting a scholarship for students that have overcome the language barrier. It might be the opportunity they need to pursue their dream. I would also take some of that money and invest it on furthering my own education so that I can be better prepared to support the students that come to me.
