Tell us why you became a teacher

As a child, I was extremely anxious, shy, and had a difficult time going to school.I will never forget how hard it was when my mom would drive me to school in the morning, I would cry and cry and cry.When I was in 1st grade, there was a teacher who would help my mom when she would drop me off. This one teacher would calmly take my hand and walk the playground with me until I calmed down. I will never forget her and I always wanted to be the one to extend a hand to students in need one day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when I was transferred from teaching fifth grade to teaching Kindergarten. It was one of the most difficult transitions I had ever made in my career, going from teaching almost middle schoolers to teaching 5 year olds. This was the most memorable experience for me though because it showed me how much I love teaching students who are just beginning their school careers. The day to day excitement and love you experience in K is unmatched.

What would you do with the $25,000?

This is a very large sum of money and if I were to be awarded $25,000 I would want to put this money into the student activities fund at my school. This fund helps any students in need at our school if they are unable to pay for field trips, the book fair, school supplies, holiday gifts, and more. This would help children for years to come.
