I come from a proud Puerto Rican family of six, where faith and resilience shaped who I am. I watched my parents overcome language barriers and work tirelessly to provide for us while serving in our church’s children’s ministry. Their example inspired my calling to teach. I believe education transforms lives, and I am committed to helping every student feel seen, valued, and capable of success.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI work with ENL high school students who must quickly master academic English to meet rigorous standards. One 18-year-old arrived with no records and was placed in 9th grade. With determination and support, he built his language skills and graduated in just a year and a half. His journey reflects the resilience of my students and the life-changing power of education.
What would you do with the $25,000?If awarded $25,000, I would invest in resources and programs that support ENL students, including bilingual materials, technology, and expanded academic support. I would also use a portion to further my professional growth, strengthening my ability to better serve my students and their families for years to come.
