Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in the youth lives. Education has the power to change opportunities, build confidence, and open doors, and I wanted to be part of that process. I’ve always had a passion for helping others grow, especially young people who may need guidance, encouragement, or someone who truly believes in them.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A memorable teaching moment for me was when a student who usually stayed quiet and struggled academically finally found the confidence to participate in class. During a lesson, I tried a different approach using a hands-on activity, and for the first time, that student raised their hand and shared their answer. It wasn’t just correct it showed real understanding. After class, the student told me that they finally felt like they “got it” and weren’t afraid to try anymore.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to support my students and improve the classroom environment. I would invest in updated books, technology, and hands-on materials to engage different learning styles. I would also fund enrichment opportunities like field trips and guest speakers to expose students to new experiences. Part of the money would go toward meeting students’ basic needs, such as supplies and snacks, to help them stay focused. I would invest in professional development to strength my teaching .
