Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because school was always a safe and comfortable space for me. I wanted to help kids feel better about themselves and their lives like many teachers did for me. I have always been curious and loved learning, so this job is perfect for me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has been when a student who was super difficult “and often rude to me told me that I was the reason he showed up everyday. It reminded me that teachers truly do make a difference even if it feels tough. I love any moment where my students love a lesson or ask to do an activity again. I pride myself on making learning an enjoyable experience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would honestly pay off some minimal credit card debt. I got married this summer and I’m still trying to build myself up financially again. I’d also use money as a down payment on a house or even towards my student loans. 25,000 could be used towards many different ways in my life. I think because it is a teacher prize, I’d love to do some sort of party with my students so we can enjoy it together.
