I love teaching because I love helping kids grow into the best versions of themselves by pushing them to see and reach their potential.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love helping others find wonder in the world around them, and to then apply that wonder to their futures. I specifically took up teaching high school because of the ability to help students engage with their future as young adults and to help guide them on choosing pathways that fit their goals.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is actually from before I became a full-fledged teacher. I was finishing student teaching in Ireland. This exposed me, not only to different approaches to education in other part of the world, but to the need for direct English instruction as a second language. Without this experience I don't think I would be on the position I'm in currently.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would, first and foremost, put some back into my classroom. Supplies are always a need and funding cannot always match the severity of any given year. Outside of that, I would probably pay down some of my debt and take my family on a well earned vacation.
