Tell us why you became a teacher

I started my journey 25 years ago in my own village in Republic of Moldova as a Psychology teacher. I thought it was fascinating to discover and learn about ourselves through science. I had multiple teachers as role models and tried to learn a bit from everyone so when I became a teacher, I could continue this beautiful human mission in supporting students though their learning.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I was fascinated with learning of the English language when I moved to the US 20 years ago. Often I learned some concepts along with my students. I let them know how important is to have an open mind and collaborate for a better result. Teaching is amazing but the concept of “learning together” is out of this world.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would like to return to myself and the family a piece of what I paid for the MEd in Leadership Education at Florida Southern College. I just graduated from there a couple of months ago and the cost was $20.000. I went face to face and made the best out but would be great to have some cash to cover the cost. I would love to buy gift cards for my fellow colleagues for who I am currently the Reading Coach. I could buy my mom, from Republic of Moldova, a ticket to come and visit Florida.
