Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I love the learning experience young children get from learning something new. It is my passion and I just simply love children. I knew at an early age that teaching would be my life. I had so many awesome teachers that poured into me as a youth and I wanted to return that same joy to every child I am connected with.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was at the beginning of this school year. This is my first year teaching as a Kindergarten teacher and I was beyond scared. I had only a week to get my classroom prepared and ready for first day. My room needed painting, learning posters put up, new carpet, and etc. My teacher partner saw the overwhelming in my eyes and she immediately began to pray over me. Fear was conquered that day by my hope in why I was there in the first place. I Am A Teacher!

What would you do with the $25,000?

The $25,000 will go to my grandson Mason’s college fund. His mom, who was my only daughter was taken away from us on January 8, 2024. I vowed to her on her dying bed that I would make sure her baby boy would be taken care of for life and he would not have to worry about anything his whole life. Mason is my “why” to keep going. He deserves the best life possible and I promise to help give it to him with God on our side.
