With all the hardships that there truly are in teaching, it is still by far the most rewarding and fulfilling job in the world.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I spent many years as a child visiting my aunt’s classroom. I would look forward to seeing the students, watch her action, and in time, I realized that I wanted to follow her path. I have never regretted it!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The children love you so much and every day I feel so blessed to receive that love. I remember one day after a long Christmas break. The children were standing in front of the door waiting to come in. We were doing our greetings as we do every morning. One of my students said “Can I have a double hug. I have missed you so much.” We just stood in the hallway and hugged for a really long time and it made me realize what an impact you make, even when you don’t realize the magnitude of it.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Honestly, I think I would try to find the coolest field trip that I could find and take my kids with me. There’s so many experiences that they’ve never had and never will get to have unless they get it through a school environment. $25,000 could give them really great experiences and teach them life long lessons.
